ARTIST BIO:

Born in Osaka, he moved to Kanto when he enrolled at Nippon
Sport Science University. During his student days, he was greatly influenced by
American culture and worked part-time at the US TOYSHOP ZAAP! which led
him to open TOYSHOP SECRETBASE on Christmas Day, December 24, 2001. The name
SECRETBASE was coined by Hikaru from BXH. With a
focus on original soft vinyl dolls made in Japan, which were rare at the time,
and a wide range of connections from under culture and counterculture
artists to celebrities, famous people, musicians, and apparel brands, and a
wealth of toy knowledge, he has had a major impact on toy lovers and toy
designers around the world. In May 2024 he was appointed
president of HYSTERIC MINI, one of Japan's leading designer kids' brands, which
will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.
